Georgia Barbershop

The Fast Forwards

brothers Gabriel and Christian Alares decided to form a new band, inspired by 60’s til’ present British pop and rock bands. They hired guitarist Mikael Hörnaeus and bass player Johannes Lindberg, and with the ambition to write really strong songs and break big without having to struggle for years at sub par venues in the underground indie scenes of Stockholm, the name of the band naturally became: The Fast Forwards.

The first four tunes were written and later recorded at a studio in Södermalm called Zoo Studion, produced by close friend and Kamera guitarist Linus Wiklund.

After their first demo was recorded, Scottish internet radio station NetSounds quickly started playing songs like “As Long As We Don’t Fake”, “The Vicious Sandstorm” and “The Wardrobe Man’s Night Out” on a regular basis as they quickly started getting a reputation online, without ever having played a single live show. These songs also gained interest from bookers in several countries around Europe.

In February 2008, after a three month break during the winter, bassist Johannes Lindberg had to leave the band in favour of now emerged artist Ida Maria. As a result of him going away to have chit-chats with Morrissey and Ian Brown in the backstage areas around the UK, Anders Axelsson (now replaced by Magnus Nilsson) came in as replacer and the band started rehearsing to arrange the songs Gabriel had written during his winter travelling.

The Fast Forwards sound reminds of the British indie-scene-bands like The Pigeon Detectives, The Wombats, Arctic Monkeys and The Rakes, and has been said to sound like “The Beatles playing in a garage in the 21st century”.
